Ball box - find the right shape
This simple activity using balls helps children have fun while developing a range of skills
Skills and benefits:
- Hand-eye coordination
- Understanding of shapes and sizes
- Problem solving
- Spatial awareness
What you'll need:
-
Small cardboard box
-
Small balls roughly 5cm in diameter (small enough for your child to hold, and large enough to prevent choking risk)
-
Vary the size of the balls to increase challenge
-
Scissors
What to do:
- Cut 2-4 round holes in the box with the scissors, just big enough for each ball to fit through.
- Leave the box closed but unsealed so your child can tip the balls out after posting them.
- Give your child the balls and watch as they find a way to input the balls in the box. Give them some space to problem-solve and get the balls back out again.
