DIY activity cube – explore different sights
Create your own multi-sensory box for your child to explore with craft items you have at home.
Skills and benefits:
- Hand-eye coordination
- Sensory exploration
- Fine motor skills
What you'll need:
- A large box (nappy boxes work really well!)
- Large paper (optional)
- Assorted materials e.g. try pom-poms, paper, fabric, cupcake cases, fairy lights, bubble wrap, ice block sticks, PVC piping (available from hardware stores), or anything else your child is interested in!
- Strong glue (can use a hot glue gun, super glue etc (adult supervision advised )
What to do:
- Cover your box with paper (this step is optional, it helps to make the materials stand out more with a plain background)
- Cut out any holes if using objects like PVC pipes, and stick pipes in.
- Attach materials however you like! Check that they are secure and the glue is dry before giving it to your child.
Tip
This activity needs to be supervised, and before each use always check that the pieces you have attached are still secure so they do not fall off and become a choking hazard.
